“My practice is an ongoing dialogue with natural phenomena and raw materiality — an unbound space where gesture precedes thought.”

Astrid Steingrüber creates abstract and semi-abstract works on canvas and paper that capture the vital energy of living landscapes. Utilizing fluid ink washes, dense graphite strokes, and layered pigments, she investigates themes of migration, botanical fluidity, and topographical memory.

Rejecting rigid perfection in favor of visceral authenticity, Steingrüber’s work bridges Eastern ink-painting sensibilities with European contemporary gestural abstraction. Each piece serves as a visual diary of resonance, light, and silence—capturing the unseen forces that shape our organic environment.
